US passport photo
The United States uses a square 2×2 inch photo for passports, visas and most federal ID applications. The digital version is exactly 600×600 pixels, and the visa upload portal rejects files over 240 KB — the maker's KB cap is set up for exactly that.

What US checks
- Face the camera directly, neutral expression, both eyes open, mouth closed.
- Head between 1 inch and 1 3/8 inches (50–69% of the frame height), centred.
- No glasses at all since 2016 — remove them, even clear prescription frames.
- Plain white or off-white background with no shadows on the face or the wall.
- Taken within the last 6 months; no uniforms except daily religious clothing.
